Overview of NSOU Self Learning Materials (SLM)

Netaji Subhas Open University supplies Self Instructional Materials (SIM) and Self Learning Materials (SLM) designed specifically for distance learners. Written by subject experts and vetted by senior university faculty, SIM modules are structured for self-guided study to reduce teacher dependence.

Printed SIM packages are provided to admitted students, supplemented by ICT-enabled support services, digital e-content, and online repository access.

Course curriculums and SLMs are framed in accordance with national statutory requirements, including standards from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and UGC Distance Education Bureau (DEB).

Specialized B.Ed. and M.Ed. Special Education Course Modules

M.Ed. Special Education (HI/ID) study materials were developed in line with RCI guidelines adopted from the 2020–2022 academic session, including core units such as Research Methodology and Statistics (Course A-3).

B.Ed. Special Education (MR/HI/VI) SIM modules were contextualized under RCI and NCTE directives for the 2015–2017 academic session, including Basic Research and Statistics (Course D-19) and Philosophy of Education (Course A-2).

In-service teacher training B.Ed. ODL courseware was adapted through an arrangement with Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) under the mandate of the RTE Act 2009 for the 2013–2015 project period.
